2026 Local Government elections
Consider for a moment how everyday life is improved by the many services that our council provides. Imagine West Torrens without street lighting, rubbish collection, footpaths, libraries, playgrounds and sports club facilities, community halls, seniors’ services – and the list goes on.
Decisions about these services, programs and infrastructure are made by a group of people known as Elected Members who ae voted into office by the local community. These elections occur every 4 years, with the next election scheduled for later this year, 2026. Unlike State and Federal elections where voting is compulsory, Local Government election voting is not compulsory and votes are postal, not in person.
The City of West Torrens has 14 councillors and one mayor. View the list of our current Elected Members and our interactive ward map.
