Disability Access and Inclusion Plan
The City of West Torrens is committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive community where everyone can access Council information, services, programs, events and facilities regardless of ability.
The City of West Torrens’ Disability Access and Inclusion Plan 2026-2030 (DAIP) sets out Council’s actions to embed access and inclusion across the organisation and support equitable participation in community life.
This DAIP aligns with the State Disability Inclusion Plan 2025-2029, which describes South Australia’s response to Australia’s Disability Strategy and outlines how actions and commitments are embedded in Disability Access and Inclusion Plans (DAIPs), you can read the State plan on the Inclusive SA website: Inclusive SA - State Disability Inclusion Plan.
The City of West Torren’s DAIP aligns with the State plan’s five (5) Domains:
- Domain 1 - Inclusive environments and communities
- Domain 2 - Education and employment
- Domain 3 - Personal and community support
- Domain 4 - Health and wellbeing
- Domain 5 - Safety, rights and justice
Delivering the DAIP requires a whole-of-Council approach, including:
- integrating access and inclusion into planning, service delivery and decision-making
- designing events and programs that are inclusive
- building staff awareness
- engaging with people with disability, carers and the community
