If you are planning a film or photography project in West Torrens, you may need approval from Council.

Who requires a Filming and Photography Permit?

  • Commercial and student productions require a Filming and Photography Permit.
  • Approved student productions with appropriate documentation will not be charged the associated Permit fee/s.
  • Recreational/personal filming or photography does not require permission.

How to apply for a Filming and Photography Permit

Organisers must apply for an Event Permit via our booking platform.

Please note, the following application times are the minimum requirements:

  • Small activity (allow minimum 2 weeks for approval)
  • Activity that includes drone use and/or site infrastructure (allow minimum 4 weeks for approval)
  • Activity that includes traffic management requirements (allow minimum 4 weeks for approval)

You will need to supply the following documentation before your application is approved:

  • Public Liability Insurance Certificate of Currency - minimum twenty million dollars ($20,000,000) with City of West Torrens included as an interested party
  • A map or plan showing the project area
  • Risk management plan
  • Traffic management plan (if relevant)
  • Drone registration certificate, ReOC and CASA approval for proposed drone photography (if relevant)
