The West Torrens Library Service offers a series of free, small group IT classes for beginners and intermediate users covering a range of topics in digital technologies. Classes are scheduled on Fridays and Saturdays and are taught using Windows based computers and a range of mobile devices in the Library's Learning Centre.

Participants must be members of a South Australian public library and bookings are essential for all classes. Classes are free.

Digitising and editing photos

Do you have old photos you'd like to digitise? Photos with your fingers in the corner that you'd like to edit?

Come and join us for a fun, informative, and interactive session! You'll learn how to digitise old photos using your smart device and then learn some editing basics on both your smart device and PC! Some tablets and PCs will be available, but feel free to bring along your own smartphone/tablet and/or laptop and their cables!

Some computers and tablets will be available for use, but feel free to bring along your own laptop and/or tablet as well. Don't forget to bring along your library barcode and pin!

Mindful May

Press pause this May and take some time to look after you.

Come and join us for a relaxing afternoon as we demonstrate a range of free self-care apps that you can download onto your devices - from meditations, reflection journals, colouring, and calming activities, to mindful movement, breathing exercises, and yoga – we hope you will find something to support you when you need to take a break, clear your mind, and refocus on what matters most.

Some tablets will be available for use, but feel free to bring along your own tablet or smartphone as well. Don't forget to bring along your library barcode and pin!

Scams and how to keep safe online

Learn to stay safe online and protect yourself from scams.

In this comprehensive information session, we will discuss how scammers try to trick you, and what to do if you think you've been scammed. Scammers hit us in numerous ways, with email, phone, and social media are among the most common variations. We will show you what to look for, how to identify a scam, and how you can report suspicious accounts.

Don't forget to bring along your library barcode and pin!

Family history for beginners

Have you thought about investigating your family history? Did you know that you can use Ancestry's Library Edition for free on one of our library computers?

Come along to this fun information session and learn about how you can use Ancestry.com and other sources to trace your history!

As Ancestry Library Edition is only available on library computers, we will only be using library computers in this session. Don't forget to bring along your library barcode and pin!
