Street sweeping
Street sweeping helps keep West Torrens clean and safe by removing litter, leaves and debris from our roads, footpaths and bike paths. It also helps prevent blocked stormwater systems and ensures our roads are clean and safe for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists.
How we work
Most streets are swept about every 8 weeks, with extra sweeping scheduled in areas that experience heavy leaf fall.
We operate 2 to 3 street sweeper vehicles as well as 2 footpath sweepers which clean our roads, footpaths, bike paths and River Torrens Linear Park walking trail.
To avoid parked vehicles blocking access to the kerb, sweeping often takes place outside business hours, particularly in busy commercial areas.
Heavy leaf fall
Our street sweeping programs are seasonally adjusted to ensure effective management of streets. During autumn and other high-leaf-drop periods, we focus on streets lined with deciduous trees.
You may see sweepers, footpath machines and staff with blowers working together to clear leaves from kerbs, footpaths and carparks.
Street sweeping activity map
Our interactive map shows how many days have passed since a street was last swept.
Streets are coloured from red (longest time since last sweep) through yellow, to green (most recently swept).
This helps you see recent activity and get an indication of when your street may be due again.
Please keep in mind that the street sweeping schedule is subject to change and the map should be used as a guide only.

How can I help keep my street clean?
You can help by:
