Do you have old sheets, towels or other household linen lying around your house that you no longer need?

Instead of putting these in your rubbish bin, why not take the opportunity to recycle them by donating them to the 'Give a Sheet' project.

On 25 May 2024, the Council and Solo Waste and Resource Recovery will be giving anyone who wants to donate household textiles an opportunity to do so as part of the Give a Sheet for the Planet project.

Give a Sheet is a global project which diverts textiles away from landfill.

Usually unwanted household linen is disposed of in the rubbish bin, however in an Australian-first initiative, textile resource recovery company BlockTexx is staging a series of linen collections around the nation called 'Give a Sheet for the Planet', and one of those collections will be right here in West Torrens.

Between 9am and 3pm on Saturday 25 May, households can drop off their clean and sorted old sheets, towels, pillowcases, quilt covers, tea towels and other linen that is no longer wanted or can no longer be used.

Collection will occur at Solo Waste and Resource Recovery, 181 Morphett Road, North Plympton, with all linen donations being sent to the Give a Sheet social enterprise partners to be sorted and decommissioned. Materials are shredded and converted into high-grade raw materials which can be used in various industries.
