As part of our vision to strengthen our relationship with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders communities, we are inviting up to 3 Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community members to join our Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) Working Group.

This is an opportunity to help shape our council’s reconciliation journey by contributing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledge, perspectives, and lived experiences to guide the development of our first Reflect RAP.

About the working group

The working group will support council to:

  • Recognise and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures, and contributions.
  • Provide cultural guidance and input to the development and implementation of the Reflect RAP.
  • Lead local reconciliation actions and build awareness across the West Torrens community.

Who can apply?

We invite applications from:

  • Individuals who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
  • Aged 18 years or over.
  • Preference will be given to residents in West Torrens, however we welcome expressions of interest from people outside the area who have a strong connection to our community or the themes of reconciliation.

Community members with a passion for reconciliation and experience in advocacy, community engagement, cultural knowledge sharing, or local leadership are encouraged to apply. We also seek applications from people of all genders and diversity.

Commitment and support

  • The working group will meet approximately once every 6 - 8 weeks, with meetings held in person, online, or in community spaces.
  • Sitting fees will be offered to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander members in recognition of their time and contribution.
  • Council is committed to creating a culturally safe, respectful, and inclusive space.

How to apply

To express your interest, complete the online Expression of Interest form by Friday, 31 October 2025.

Applicants will be contacted by council staff for an informal conversation about your interest in the working group and to answer any questions you may have. This is a chance for us to get to know each other, make sure the group is right for you, and explain how we’ll work together.

These conversations can take place in whichever way is most comfortable for you; by phone, in person, or online.

If you would like support in submitting your application or have questions about the role, contact:
