Civic Award 2026
Paul Broadbridge
Presented to individuals who have given outstanding service to, or been a benefactor to, the City of West Torrens. Any elected member of the Council who serves in any office for a total of 10 years shall also be presented with a Civic Award.
Paul has made a significant and enduring contribution to Australia’s defence and veteran community through his compassionate leadership of Australian Partners of Defence (APOD).
Founded alongside his late fiancée, Rebecca Waller, APOD was created to support defence personnel, veterans, and their families during service and through the transition to civilian life, ensuring their sacrifices are recognised and valued.
Following Rebecca’s passing, Paul has carried this vision forward with deep empathy and determination, honouring her legacy through action.
Under Paul’s leadership, APOD has grown into a nationwide network of more than 195,000 members, connecting defence families with everyday savings, career opportunities, and wellbeing support.
Operated by veteran families for veteran families, APOD has spent more than 12 years building strong partnerships with businesses across Australia to create a meaningful bridge between the defence community and the wider business sector. Paul’s ability to unite people from all walks of life has strengthened support systems, improved quality of life for thousands of defence families, and ensured that recognition for service extends well beyond words.
