Home Library Service

books-exchanged.jpg

Our friendly and personalised Home Library Service is provided to local residents who are not able to attend either the Hamra Centre or Mobile libraries due to illness, disability or frailty. This service has been expanded to include those residents who are vulnerable and isolated due to COVID-19.

How it works

A Home Library staff member will contact you to discuss your interests and needs. The member then selects a range of items to suit your tastes. At the next visit, these items are then swapped over.

Some clients use the service on a temporary basis (during illness) and others take part on an ongoing basis.

Items available

You can borrow the following items using the home library service:

  • large print and regular books,
  • fiction and non-fiction books,
  • audio books,
  • magazines,
  • items in community languages,
  • jigsaw puzzles,
  • DVDs.

Home pick up

If you are mobile and willing but don’t have transport, the Home Library Service can collect you from your home and take you to the Hamra Centre Library. Our staff member then returns you to your door when you are ready to go home.

The service generally operates once a week on a weekday morning. Check with the Home Library Service for pick up days and times and make arrangements for a library visit.
