Council provides a 240L bin with a green lid for your organic waste. It is collected fortnightly.

Organic waste includes anything that once grew e.g. food scraps, or that is made from organic matter only e.g. paper and compostable bags.

What goes into your organics bin?

Only place items in this bin that can be composted and only use compostable bags. See compostable v biodegradable. Remember the rule: 'If it didn't grow, it doesn't go in your organics bin'.

Tips for recycling organics

  • Remember the rule: 'If it didn't grow, it doesn't go in your organics bin'.

  • Ensure that your bin is undamaged and the lid shuts completely to retain odours and reduce pests.

  • Store pet poo in a separate, open container and empty it into your organics bin just before collection day.
