Take a tour on our community bus

Tour historic Cummins House, take part in a mystery tour of West Torrens, visit the Thebarton Police Barracks before it makes way for the new Women's and Children's Hospital or take a visit to the Adelaide Central Markets.

7 February - Historic Cummins House

cummins-house.gif Come along for a guided tour of the historic Cummins House, located in Novar Gardens. Being one of South Australia’s earliest extant buildings and the residence of South Australian pioneer and politician John Morphett, the house was purpose built and housed 5 generations of the Morphett family until the 1970s, when it was sold to the State Government for preservation. Gift shop and small plant shop on-site.

Note: the house has several steps so is not suitable for walking frames or scooters.

  • Time: 10.30am - 1pm
  • Cost: $10 per person (includes tour, transport and Devonshire tea).

23 February - Mystery tour

mystery-tour.gif Join us for an outing of mystery stops in and around West Torrens as we discover some new places, reconnect with some local points of interest and generally discover what’s available right in our own backyard. Please be aware that locations will be both indoors and outdoors so dress accordingly and be aware of the weather forecast for the day.

Note: includes one food/drink stop at own cost and one point of interest stop.

  • Time: 9.30am - 12.30pm
  • Cost: By donation - light refreshments provided.

Tuesday 7 March - Thebarton Police Barracks

police-barracks.gif Built in 1917 and having celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2017, the Thebarton Police Barracks continues to house the Mounted Police and Dog Operations Units. It is an important facility for a broad range of police functions. Join us for a guided tour and morning tea while tours are still in operation. Photo courtesy State Library of South Australia. central-markets.gif Explore the amazing sights, sounds and smells of the Adelaide Central Markets without the hassle of driving and parking. The bus collects from multiple pick up / drop off locations and there is room on the bus for small personal shopping carts and bags.
