Nominations for the 2022 Local Government elections open on Tuesday 23 August.

The Electoral Commission of South Australia (ECSA) is offering sessions on what it means to be an elected member; these can be found on the ECSA 'Becoming a candidate' website page.

Council will also be holding an information session on Thursday 25 August at the Civic Centre, Hilton. You can register your attendance via Eventbrite.

People interested in nominating as a candidate in this year's elections are encouraged to attend a briefing session. These provide a range of information including:

  • The role and functions of a council.
  • Relationship between councils and other spheres of government.
  • Role of an Elected Member.
  • Allowances and expenses.
  • Legal responsibilities.
  • How elections are conducted.
  • Eligibility and the process of nomination.
  • Campaigning for election.
