About the Master Plan
A master plan has been developed for Kings Reserve in order to provide a long-term overarching vision for the precinct. The three stage plan aims to provide a sustainable, high-value, high-quality public reserve, which is more accessible and user-friendly for local residents and sporting clubs.
The plan recognises the existing qualities of the entire site, but also seeks to consolidate existing facilities and upgrade or provide new appropriate facilities based on existing and future use.
Kings Reserve is one element of a larger, multi-faceted precinct at Torrensville and as such the master plan seeks to ensure the provision of a sustainable, high-value, high-quality public reserve that reflects community expectations and Council’s designation of the main project site as part of a precinct-scale reserve.
Proposed key features of the Kings Reserve Draft Master Plan are:
- improved accessibility throughout
- playground upgrade and relocation
- connecting vehicle and pedestrian path to better link facilities
- improved activation of community open space (picnic areas and sports fields)
- youth recreational hub including skate plaza, cricket net and shelter
- bowling club upgrade
- new SAAFL building
- wetland with water harvesting capabilities.

The Draft Master Plan was developed after initial consultations with the local community in 2015. Council ran further community consultations and accepted feedback on the Draft Master Plan itself between 1 August 2017 and 8 September 2017 with a community day also held on Saturday 26 August at Kings Reserve. Attendees were given the opportunity to obtain additional information, discuss the Master Plan and provide feedback in person. As a result, a further 150 responses were collected and the Master plan was refined to incorporate this feedback. This plan has now been endorsed by Council.
Thank you to everyone who provided their opinions on the Plan. All feedback has been considered by Council and considered when developing the final Master Plan.
Implementation of all elements of the plan will take place during the next 10 years. Stage 1 has begun with the completion wetland and water harvesting. The upgrade to the Torrensville Bowling Club will begin in August 2018 and the new playground and upgrade of the skate park will begin in late 2018.
It is important to note that there are elements outside the scope of the project site included in the master plan that will be subject to future funding.
