Meet Lainie Anderson author of Long Flight Home, and hear about her Churchill Fellowship research into the 1919 Epic Flight from England to Australia.
Lainie’s novel details one of the most important chapters in world aviation history through the eyes of Adelaide mechanic Wally Shiers. Long Flight Home is based on war diaries, letters, and Lainie’s own experiences travelling along the race route.
Describing herself as ‘the crazy plane lady’, Lainie has been instrumental in the Epic Flight Centenary celebrations and the planned relocation of the Vickers Vimy biplane into the Adelaide Airport terminal.
