In order to help meet the growing needs of our community and provide better and more user-friendly spaces, the City of West Torrens is upgrading a number of larger recreational spaces in West Torrens, including Camden Park, Mellor Park, Apex Park, Lockleys Oval, Kings Reserve and Weigall Oval.
Weigall Oval redevelopment
Stage 1 of the upgrade has been completed and includes a new junior and senior nature play space, a bike track, gym equipment, car park, four public use tennis courts and a streamlined link to the Westside Bikeway.
The next stage of works will include the construction of a new clubroom building and new sports fields, incorporating additional landscaping and car parking that will meet the needs of nearby residents and sporting clubs that use the facility. These began in July 2019 and are anticipated to be completed by September 2020. During the construction period, part of Weigall Oval will be closed to the public for safety reasons.
Funding for this project has been received from the Government of South Australia through the State - Local Government Infrastructure Partnership Fund.
We apologise for any inconvenience during the construction periods of these projects and will endeavour to keep you updated on the closure times via our website and social media channels.
