In order to help meet the growing needs of our community and provide better and more user-friendly spaces, the City of West Torrens is upgrading a number of its larger recreational spaces in West Torrens including Apex Park, Lockleys Oval, Camden Park and Weigall Oval.
Weigall Oval redevelopment
Stage 1 of the upgrade has been completed and has resulted in a junior and senior nature play space, a bike track, adult gym equipment, carpark, four public use tennis courts and a better link to the Westside Bikeway. Stage 1 was officially opened on Sunday 16 September 2018. The public can now use this space.
The next stage of works will include the construction of a new clubroom building and new sports fields, incorporating additional landscaping and carparking that will meet the needs of nearby residents and sporting clubs that use the facility.
Stage 2 works will begin in July 2019 and are anticipated to be completed by May 2020. During the period of construction, part of Weigall Oval will be closed to the public for safety reasons.
Funding for this project has been received from the Government of South Australia through the State - Local Government Infrastructure Partnership Fund.
