In order to help meet the growing needs of our community and provide better and more user-friendly spaces, the City of West Torrens is upgrading a number of its larger recreational spaces in West Torrens including Apex Park, Lockleys Oval, Camden Park and Weigall Oval.
Camden Oval upgrade
The Camden Oval Master Plan identifies a multifaceted upgrade of its facilities including a new building with clubroom change rooms, kitchen and bar, upgrade of existing clubrooms and new synthetic soccer pitch.
Stage 1 of the upgrade has been completed and involved the conversion of the senior soccer pitch to synthetic turf, the construction of new female-friendly change rooms for soccer games, the construction of new female-friendly change rooms for football, athletics and cricket, the construction of a new football clubroom and carparking.
Stage 2 will include an upgrade to the football oval, with new irrigation and a new drainage system to be installed; the upgrade to the public courts and the recreation area (playground).
Olive trees on the site that once belonged to Sir John Morphett as part of the Cummins Estate have been pruned significantly. Dead wood has been removed and the internal canopies have been opened up in order to allow new growth to occur. Qualified arborists carried out the work in order to ensure the trees return healthier than before.
While works are being undertaken, restrictions to carparking and to the oval will be in place.
We apologise for any inconvenience during the construction periods of these projects and will endeavour to keep you updated on the closure times via our website and social media channels.
